Freshman Orientation is tomorrow, Tuesday September 5th from 6-7PM TAE Auditorium: This is for all parents and incoming Freshman. 1st Day Folders, schedules, chrome books, and general information will be shared along with a chance to meet your teachers and tour the building!

High School Drop-Off 7:40-8:00 (Tardy 8:10)
We know traffic on the first day will be heavy on the Cohen Campus. Please do not rush, take your time driving on campus. We will not be strict on tardy for the first few days.
Please DO NOT arrive too early. Arrival start times indicate when we will allow students into the schools.

As we move to finish the 2022-2023 school year and turn to plans for the 2023-2024 school year we would like your input. This feedback is needed in part to satisfy requirements around New York State's commitment to finally come through with fully funding Foundation Aid for schools. We are asking for feedback on priority areas which our community sees for our students and our schools.

Dear Parents and Guardians:
Due to air quality concerns as a result of the Canada wildfires, the district will have all students and staff remain inside during the school day and after school until further notice. In addition, our filtration system across the district allows us to keep windows closed in order to minimize effects in the buildings. Activities within our buildings will go on as scheduled. The district continues to monitor the situation with state agencies and the department of health and will make any changes to our protocols as needed.

Good Morning, The phones and internet is down at Cohen this morning. The Cougar is working on the issue. Roar!!!!! It is Monday!!
After a rigorous process that engaged a wide representation of our amazing community, it is our pleasure to announce the recommendation of Ms. Kristin McNamara as our next Cohen Elementary Principal.
It is anticipated that the Elmira Heights CSD Board of Education will appoint Ms. McNamara at the next board meeting as the successor to Mr. Andrew Lutz, longtime and beloved Cohen Elementary Principal. Mr. Lutz has been with the district as a Teacher, Dean, and Coach up to that point since July 26, 1993. He will be retiring at the end of July.
The search for the next Principal brought in a number of strong candidates from around the region. The district was very pleased and impressed with the quality of candidates interested in joining our amazing elementary school. It is a credit to our school and community that there was this much interest.
Ms. McNamara has been a part of the Heights Schools since August 1, 2013 as a School Counselor. We look forward to this next chapter for Cohen Elementary.

Career Day Helicopter presentation at Cohen complex this morning! This is notification that this is a part of a career day, not an emergency situation. Have a great day, everyone!
Good Morning, On Friday, May 19th, Cohen Elementary School is hosting its annual Career Day. As part of the career opportunities, a helicopter will land and take off from the Cohen softball field. We are alerting everyone as not to cause undo concern. The Cougar is sad that helicopter rides are not offered.

Voting has started on the 2023-24 Elmira Heights CSD Annual Budget. District residents can vote now until 8 PM. Voting takes place at Thomas A. Edison High School gymnasium. Use the entrance where the big orange tent is set up.
This morning, under the advisement of the Elmira Heights Village Police Department, Elmira Heights Central School District buildings went to a lockout status for approximately 45 minutes as a precaution due to an off-campus situation in the area.
Daily activities within the building continued as usual. Access to buildings was limited to essential personnel. We have since resumed normal operations.
Our School Resource Officer is in contact with local law enforcement, and we will continue to monitor the situation and provide any necessary updates as the day continues.
We thank our partners, the Elmira Heights Police Department for their great work and collaboration!

Elmira Heights CSD Community - you are invited to meet our Cohen Elementary Principal Search Finalists on Tuesday May 9th, from 6pm to 9pm at the Cohen Auditorium.
Finalists will answer pre-established questions and share information about themselves and their professional experiences to the community in three separate sessions starting at 6pm.
Those attending will be asked to fill out a feedback form for each candidate.
Please note that these sessions are 45 minutes long for each candidate, and are not designed for young children.
Attention: our TRACK and FIELD Facility Closing in MAY: Repairs and Renovations to Northrop Field and the Track start soon! We have scheduled this work after our Track and Field teams get their last home meet. We are planning to re-open in time for fall sports. These needed repairs will address many aspects of the facility which has started to show serious deterioration. We are also adding to the sidewalks and doing repairs to the parking area for improved access for all! These repairs and renovations should set us up for another 20+ years of safe enjoyment of the facility for our school and community! Thank you for your understanding!
