We hope your summer has been amazing so far and your student(s) are having equal parts rest and fun!
I wanted to reach out and share a flyer with you that details all the important things to know prior to the 2023-2024 school year starting. Inside this flyer you'll find supply lists, important dates and FAQs. I'm also inserting a YouTube link (below) that shows students how to open a locker and which hook to hang their backpacks on. This is important because far too often lockers get jammed with backpacks being hung on the side hooks. Lockers are an important part of a middle school student's life as they will have the ability to access them throughout the day while also storing their jackets, bags, cellphone, extra shoes, school supplies, etc. We take it very slow during the first few days of school, allowing ample time for students to get comfortable opening their lockers. All staff will be assisting students getting into their lockers during the opening week. This should not be a source of stress for your student so please communicate to your child that we know nothing will be perfect during the first two weeks of school and that is OKAY. We anticipate students struggling with lockers, having questions with schedules, and all other things that are tricky with navigating the start to a school year. All staff are here to assist and support to ensure your child has a great start to the 2023-2024 school year.
As noted in the flyer, I am happy to provide tours of the building starting August 7th. However, our maintenance team works hard all summer prepping the building so some sections of the school may not be accessible. If any 6th grade/new student would like to get a sneak peak of CMS, please contact me.
